We build a local-first device, and your data stays yours. This site collects almost nothing. Here is exactly what.
Short version
- The only personal data we collect is an email address, and only if you type one into the waitlist form.
- No cookies. No analytics. No advertising or tracking pixels.
- No third-party fonts, scripts or embeds. This site makes zero requests to anyone else.
- No open or click tracking in our emails. They are plain text.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data. The one other company that sees your address is Resend, which delivers our emails.
What we collect
- Email address
- Stored only if you submit the waitlist form. We keep the address, when you submitted it, and a short label for which form it came from. To send our emails we also keep how many you have been sent, when the last one went, and a random code that makes your unsubscribe link work. Nothing else. No name, no company, no phone number.
- IP address, briefly
- Held in memory for about a minute to rate-limit the waitlist form against automated abuse. Not written to our database and not linked to your email address.
- Server logs
- Our hosting provider keeps standard operational logs of requests. We do not analyse them, build profiles from them, or link them to waitlist entries.
What we don't collect
- Cookies of any kind: necessary, analytics or preference.
- Analytics or usage measurement. We don't know how many pages you viewed or how long you stayed.
- Advertising identifiers, pixels, fingerprinting or cross-site tracking.
- Anything from the TaqaBuddy device itself. It has no account and no telemetry, and sends nothing unless you ask it to.
How we use your email
To send build updates, benchmark results and write-ups about TaqaBuddy. That is the only purpose. No advertising, no selling, no sharing. Every message has a one-click unsubscribe.
When you join, you get four short emails over about two weeks: a welcome, then three more, a few days apart. After that we only write when there is something real to say.
We send them through Resend, an email delivery provider. Resend receives your address only to deliver our messages to you. The emails are plain text with no open or click tracking: no pixels, and no links rewritten to count clicks.
Where it is stored
In a hosted PostgreSQL database run by our infrastructure provider, encrypted in transit. One person has access.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until the waitlist has served its purpose and we close it. Unsubscribing deletes your address from our database. We remove it rather than flag it as inactive.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have some or all of these rights. We honour them wherever you live.
- Access. Ask what we hold about you: an email address, a few timestamps, and which of our emails you have been sent.
- Correction. Ask us to fix it.
- Deletion. Ask us to remove it, and we will.
- Portability. Ask for a copy.
- Opt out. Unsubscribe from any email, which deletes your address, or write to us.
Email privacy@taqatechnology.com and we will act on it. No account or verification hoops.
Security
Traffic is encrypted with TLS, the waitlist endpoint is rate-limited, and the database is not publicly reachable. No system is perfectly secure. The worst case here is that someone learns an email address that signed up for a hardware newsletter.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has submitted an address, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change is material, for example adding analytics, we will email the list before doing it.
