Privacy Policy

We build a device designed so that your data never leaves it. It would be incoherent to run a surveillance-heavy website for it. This page describes what we actually do, which is very little.
The short version
- The only personal data we collect is an email address, and only if you type one into the waitlist form.
- No cookies. No analytics. No advertising or tracking pixels.
- No third-party fonts, scripts or embeds — this site makes zero requests to anyone else.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data. There is no one to share it with.
What we collect
- Email address
- Stored only if you submit the waitlist form. We keep the address, the time you submitted it, and a short label for which page it came from. Nothing else — no name, no company, no phone number.
- IP address — transiently
- Your IP is held in memory for about a minute so we can rate-limit the waitlist form against automated abuse. It is not written to our database and not associated with your email address.
- Server logs
- Our hosting provider keeps standard operational logs of requests. We do not analyse them, build profiles from them, or connect them to waitlist entries.
What we don't collect
- Cookies of any kind — strictly necessary, analytics, or preference.
- Analytics or usage measurement. We do not know how many pages you viewed or how long you stayed.
- Advertising identifiers, pixels, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking.
- Anything at all from the TaqaBuddy device itself. It has no network connection by design.
How we use your email
To send you build updates, benchmark results, and write-ups about the TaqaBuddy project. That is the only purpose. We do not use it for advertising, we do not pass it to anyone else, and every message includes a one-click unsubscribe.
Where it is stored
In a hosted PostgreSQL database operated by our infrastructure provider, encrypted in transit. Access is limited to the people who need it, which currently means one person.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until the waitlist has served its purpose and we close it. If you unsubscribe, we remove your address rather than flagging it as inactive.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have some or all of these rights. We honour them regardless of where you live.
- Access — ask what we hold about you. It will be an email address and a timestamp.
- Correction — ask us to fix it.
- Deletion — ask us to remove it, and we will.
- Portability — ask for a copy.
- Opt out — unsubscribe from any email, or write to us.

Security
Traffic is encrypted with TLS, the waitlist endpoint is rate-limited, and the database is not publicly reachable. No system is perfectly secure, but the consequence of a breach here is limited by design: the worst case is that someone learns an email address that signed up for a hardware newsletter.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has submitted an address, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is material — for example if we ever added analytics — we would say so in an email to the list before doing it.
